“Host Band”

We will be performing as the “host band” for this event, which means we will be performing for a rating only, and not for awards or a ranking.

Both Bradley and Davidson will also be “host bands”.

Rehearsal

Please be on the green field in concert arcs, ready to warm-up, at 10:00a (not arriving at 10). Remember to bring water with you.

We will not be staying at Darby as a group in the afternoon. Everyone should head home after rehearsal.

Dinner

We won’t really have time for students to visit the concession stand until around 8p, so please eat dinner before you arrive.

Next Week: Double-Header Contests

On October 28th the band will perform at both the Athens and Dublin Jerome contests. Our performance times are 1:00p at Athens and 8:45p at Dublin Jerome. We are the last of 10 bands at Athens. Fifteen bands will be competing at Dublin Jerome, in addition to performances by each of the Dublin bands.

I was hoping we would play a bit later at Athens than we are. As it stands, we will likely be pulling out of Darby at 8:00a.

OMEA State Marching Band Finals

As you know, the students earned a Superior Rating at their first competition, qualifying them to perform at OMEA State Marching Band Finals here at Darby on October 28th.

The first draft of the State Finals schedule came out today and our tentative performance time is 8:00p.

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS!  It is critical that we fill all the required volunteer slots for Darby so that we get our share of the proceeds from the event. The Hilliard Invitational is this Saturday, October 7th and we need your help to make sure things run smoothly!  Please sign up ASAP so that the group leaders can communicate your duties with you.  This is a lot of fun and a chance to work with other Hilliard music supporters from the other schools. If you volunteer, we will ensure you are able to rotate out and watch Darby’s performance so you won’t miss a thing!  http://www.signupgenius.com/go/805044ba4ab2faa8-hilliard

Back by popular demand!  The Spirit Wear Store is open again.  The store will be open until midnight Wednesday October 11th.  Orders will be ready approximately 2 weeks after the store closes just in time for the State Finals performance.  http://www.myfanstand.com/Showroom/HilliardDarbyBand2017/503962

Concessions Sign-up – We need some help on the morning of the Hilliard Invitational!  And we can always use weekday volunteers!

The State Marching Band Finals will be held on Saturday October 28th at Hilliard Darby.  This new location is going to require us to increase our volunteer participation as we will be sharing all parking and concessions proceeds from the event across the 3 Hilliard Music Booster organizations.  The event runs from early morning until after 10pm so we will need to have about 50 volunteers from Darby to cover our allotted spots.  This event has the opportunity to yield a great deal of money to support our music programs and your help will be invaluable in making it successful.  A sign up genius will be made available in the coming week.  Please mark your calendars!

Show Spirit Wear Orders!  If you ordered any show spirit wear through the Charms online store, your orders will be available for pick up on Friday when you drop off your student for the football game.  Come to the Uniform Room to collect your order or send your student to pick it up.   If this doesn’t work for you for some reason, please contact me directly and we can make alternative arrangements.

Senior parents – get copies of your baby and senior pictures together for the year end video.  Electronic files can be emailed to Liz Hassay at hassay.liz@gmail.com.  If you have hard copies, she can make arrangements to get those as well.  We need to have those in hand no later than November 9th for inclusion.

Join the Hilliard Darby Band Family Facebook page so you don’t miss out on pictures and announcements.  It is a wonderful place to share information.  You are also invited to like the Hilliard Darby Music Boosters page as well so you can keep current on Darby music program activities.

To keep the lines of communication open, I am starting an FAQ that I will share in the Booster Bytes communications going forward.  Please feel free to ask me anything!  Send your questions to soccergirl021@gmail.com.

The next Hilliard Darby Music Boosters General membership meeting is this coming Monday October 9th in the Darby Band Room.  Join us to recap the last month of activities and talk about what’s to come.

Thank You!  Go Panthers!
