Founded in 1997, the Darby High School Band has received numerous awards and recognition and earned a reputation for excellence.

Both the Marching and Concert Bands have consistently succeeded at OMEA Adjudicated Events, with a long record of Superior Ratings, and many awards for Outstanding Music, Visual, Effect, Percussion, and Guard.

Recent Awards include:

  • ​Top 5 Finish at OSU Buckeye Invitational, Grand Champions at Watkins Memorial (again) and Westerville South.
  • The Darby Winter Guard has earned a number of awards including OIPA State Champions in 2015, OIPA Medalists in 2016, and 2017 OIPA State Finalists. In 2017 the guard members earned their highest score ever at WGI World Championships.
  • Most recent performance at Disney – March 2017.
  • Symphonic and Concert Band Members have earned both Superior and Excellent Ratings at OMEA Large Group.

 

Individual band members have performed as members of OMEA All-State Band, Ohio State University Honors Band, Columbus Youth Symphony Orchestra, Columbus Symphony Cadet Orchestra, Capital University Youth Symphonic Band and Junior Winds, the Columbus Youth Jazz Ensembles, and various other honors ensembles throughout the state.

Band students have also performed across the country as members of DCI Drum Corps, indoor color guard and percussion ensembles, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade All-American Marching Band, and the Orange Bowl All-Star Invitational Marching Band.
